Lock Picked Gain Entry To A Property in Abbeymead

As part of our day to day work we attend properties to gain entry to them for customers who have lost their keys or slammed a door shut behind themselves leaving the keys inside the property.

On this job in Abbeymead the front door had a Yale lock that was deadlocked from inside with a small button that slides up and down. Often we can slide it back again from outside with a tool that goes through the letterbox, but there wasn’t a letterbox in their front door to be able to do this. Instead of damaging their lock we asked if there was another external door that we could open instead.

We went around the back of the property and unlocked one door of a pair of patio doors that look like they haven’t been open for years.

This was a quick and easy pick open. The customer didn’t have to replace any locks, and we adjusted the tension of the button on the back of his Yale lock as it may have slid down on it’s own when the door slammed shut and the customer didn’t want to replace the backplate of the Yale lock. This way it shouldn’t happen again and we recommended that the customer carry a spare key for the patio doors on his keyring in any case so that he has a choice of door to enter the property.
