uPVC Locking System Failed and Replaced in Dursley

We replaced a failed / broken ‘Ingenious’ locking system on a uPVC door in Dursley. This had a broken piece of metal that used to move the sliding metal work attached to the top hook. Without this metal part to do this, the top hook doesn’t move. We replaced the gearbox part of the full length locking mechanism. Frustratingly we didn’t have the 35mm version of the “Ingenious” locking system on the van (only had the 45mm version) and had to return the following day with the correct part. Usually we are able to replace these gearbox parts on the first visit, but there are so many different types of them that we struggle to carry all of them and now and then we come across one we don’t have.

We must easily have over 80 different types on the van now. Every time we come across a new one we stock that one also. Some are so obscure we have difficulty even sourcing it, but usually manage to. Some of these locking systems are discontinued and if that’s the case we can always replace the full length mechanism with a new different make, but it is good just to make a repair to the existing as often it has many years of life left in it with a repair.
