Failed Maco locking system gearbox replaced.
We attended another property with a failed Maco gearbox that drives their full length locking system on a uPVC door.
Removed the locking system from the door and replaced it with another new Maco gearbox. We adjusted the door as it had been stiff to lock (probably what caused it to fail). Now that the door is adjusted and easy to lock and unlock we don’t anticipate any problems for many years to come.
If you have a door that is stiff to lock or unlock, get someone to adjust the door position so that it locks and unlocks easily. That way you aren’t putting excess pressure on the handles – and in turn to the gearbox part that drives the locking system. This way the door will work as it should for a long time to come. When it is stiff to lock or unlock it will fail far sooner and the replacement parts aren’t cheap.
