While a Yale lock may be fine for helping with security, it should be noted that they can be kicked open by someone wanting to force entry (Like this lock here!)
Also – these Yale locks (and others) are susceptible to being “slipped” open with a small sheet of plastic. We carry this in a pocket as you never know when you’re going to need it and it comes in handy more often than you think – (We slip it in between some types of windows to gain entry for customers sometimes and it works on a vast amount of doors with a latch.
We would have opened this door leaving no trace that we had been there, but the person who kicked this door open wasn’t supposed to be doing this and doesn’t seem to care about their actions.
If you have a Yale lock on your door, please consider adding a deadlock to the door also so this type of thing can’t happen – or upgrade your standard Yale lock to a British Standard version so that it is far less vulnerable.
